The Untouchables: Season 4 Volume 1

Too Many Pilots for Other Series
This is very disappointing. I loved the first three seasons, but this is beyond lame. Desilu was using the show to showcase proposed new series: Barbara Stanwyck and Ed Asner tracking missing persons, Dane Clark and John Gabriel as contagious disease investigating doctors and Scott Brady as a one eyed globe trotting reporter.. All dominate the episodes they're in and it's a waste.

There's a few goodies. Frank Nitti returns in a later episode and makes you realize how important Bruce Gordon is to the show. Lee Marvin, James Caan and Roy Thinnes star as brothers in a great episode. The best, though, is when the ever present Nehemiah Persoff returns as Jake Guzik to team up with Harry Morgan as Bugsy Moran. But these great moments, so prevalent in the first three seasons, are just too few in this volume.

definitely ... UNTOUCHABLE!
The Untouchables (Season 4): Don't believe everything you read ... there is absolutely no drop in quality regarding this last season of an absolutely CLASSIC TV series. It may possibly be considered the lesser of the 4 seasons, but the acting, production values, guest stars ... all contributed to a fantastic and worthy program ... making "The Untouchables" probably one on the BEST classic TV crime-series of all time (ranking right along side "Hawaii Five-0"). It could well be that the Desilu Studio interests began to lose concentration during this final season and began expanding their efforts into other areas. Also, there were probably not too many more stores to be told (exposed) during this brief span of the Eliot Ness chronicles (1929-1933). I would have savored a final fifth season to wrap it all up, but the TV Gods denied that. All in all ... I own all 4 season sets ... and they are at the TOP of my collectible TV favorites (which are quite numerous and varied). This was a...

lame to say the least
season 4 was very tame for this series-gunfire was kept at a minimum--thats probably why there was no season 5-very little action and NO frank nitti-the italians finally won out-the politically correct crowd won this one and killed a good show-THIS season did NOT in anyway compare to the other 3--which was action packed--i bought it just to complete the seasons set--but VERY DISAPPOINTED--same goes for vol 2
