Daria: Season 5

This is the best
An 11 year old boy once watched daria season 5. 11 years later he rates this seminal animation as five stars. Few things created in the late 90s to early 2000s ever represented our time any better.

Light hearted and good humored
A great end to a good series. This is one of those MTV cartoons that is poignant, cynical and still totally funny and easy to relate to. Daria, our star, is a smart white girl growing up in what looks like a new US suburb.

Over the course of this show, so many common themes of growing up in the suburbs are raised and dealt with in a glib yet humorous fashion through Daria, an uber-bright girl who internalizes her teen aged angst to all but her closest friends. I love the cartoon, my son, now 23 loves the cartoon. He was more than occasionally embarrassed by his frogman dad and successful yet mercurial mother.

This is one of the best hour cartoon shows I have ever seen.

still topical
I still find Daria intelligent, funny, and topical even 12 years after it was broadcast. I recommend it to anyone who questions mainstream assumptions.
